The Masked Singer has become a playground for the stars where they can go completely incognito and be judged without bias. The reality singing competition has become a phenomenon since it debuted in the US on Fox on January 2, 2019. It is incredible to watch our favorite celebrities rock the stage without our immediately being exposed to who they are. This tends to give them power to truly present themselves in a new light! Every year the show captures audiences attentions due to the celebrities themselves, the singing, and of course the incredible costumes! Season 12 of the Masked Singer, which aired from September 25, 2024 to December 18, 2024, was an especially interesting season. There were 15 celebrity contestants on The Masked Singer that were divided into three groups of five. After 12 weeks of battles between the best, the shows top two emerged to be a group The Buffalos and an individual Wasp. Ultimately, it was The Buffalos who won the entire competition!
The Buffalos – the winner of The Masked Singer this year – created history by being the first group act to win! I was super proud of myself to have guessed who was behind the winners mask back when they first sang! The best part of the show is the endless guessing both judges and viewers go through trying to figure out who is behind the mask. So, just who won? Runner up went to Wasp – who turned out to be Mario – while the winner turned out to be… drumroll please… Boyz II Men – Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanyá Morris! The band originally consisted of four members, but in 2003, Michael McCary left Boyz II Men due to health issues, which eventually was revealed to be multiple sclerosis. By the end of the first episode, the judges (Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Rita Ora and Ken Jeong), the host (Nick Cannon), – and even the Wasp! – were confident that the boy band was behind the Buffalos! The group really showcased powerful vocals throughout the series and were the deserving winners! Now, we just have to patiently wait for the next season of The Masked Singer!
